Ulstein’s latest Service Operational Vessel (SOV) for Bernhard Schulte Offshore has been floated out from Yard 315 at Ulstein Verft. The SOV, a hybrid vessel, is now positioned in the outer dock for further outfitting and testing.

The vessel was floated out on 26th January 2020, following completion of exterior painting. The vessel has also had its switchboards powered up and main engines started. The provision crane has been tested. Testing of davits is currently underway.

The inclining test is scheduled for late-February, and sea trials will begin in early March, according to Ulstein. The SOV comes with a battery hybrid system, the Energy Management System, with X-BOW® and X-STERN™ innovations to improve seakeeping and safety, at the same time reducing fuel consumption.

. Bernhard Schulte Offshore is managing the vessel on behalf of WINDEA Offshore and is due to start on a five-year contract with GE Renewable Energy supporting operations and maintenance on the Merkur OWF.
