BMT wins first CTV order for Japan

BMT recently received its first order for two Wind Farm Service Vessels (WFSVs). Currently in build by Cheoy Lee Shipyards at its Hin Lee (Zhuhai) Shipyard facility, the two 27m WFSVs add to BMT’s growing portfolio with the shipyard.

BMT has designed the new vessels to support operations and maintenance on the Akita and Noshiro offshore wind farms. The projects are located located in the Akita Prefecture of Japan. The farm is the first large-scale commercial offshore wind project in the country, with an expected combined output of 139 MW. BMT tailored the design to perform in local conditions, using metocean data studies. The design optimises the vessel's manoeuvrability, performance and redundancy.

The Cheoy Lee Shipyards has already built six CTVs designed by BMT, for Njrod Offshore. Four of the vessels are operational and two are on sea trials prior to delivery. See Two more European vessels for Njord Offshore.
