As a result of stakeholder requests for an extension of the comment period, BOEM is now accepting comments through 30th of July, 2018 for information and nominations for offshore wind energy development within the New York Bight region.

In addition, BOEM will be working with affected states in the New York Bight to plan additional stakeholder engagement opportunities with key stakeholder groups, such as commercial and recreational fisheries and the maritime navigation community.

On 11th of April, 2018, BOEM issued a Call for Information and Nominations (Call) for Commercial Leasing for Wind Power on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) in the New York Bight. This region represents an area of shallow waters between Long Island and the New Jersey coast.

BOEM also seeks public input on the potential for wind energy development in the Call Area. This includes site conditions, resources, and multiple uses in close proximity to, or within, the Call Areas that would be relevant to BOEM’s review of any nominations submitted, as well as BOEM’s subsequent decision whether to offer all or part of the Call Areas for commercial wind leasing.
