Brave Tern reaches new heights

Brave Tern has recently had its crane boom extended by 20m, this was achieved at the Damen Shipyard in Amsterdam.

With the extension of the crane boom, Brave Tern can now perform works on projects that require lift heights of 120m. The works were completed without any incidents causing delays.

Fred Olsen say that the vessel can now install larger wind turbines with higher hub heights, such as the MHI Vestas turbine, V164-8.0MW.

The Brave Tern's sister vessel, Bold Tern, has recently installed turbines at the Borkum Riffgrund II offshore wind farm.

On the fifth journey undertaken by the vessel it installed a total of four turbines in four days, and the first V164-8.0MW turbine installed on a suction bucket jacket.
