The jacket foundation for the Calvados offshore substation arrived in Le Havre, from Ravenna in Italy, on Saturday 5th November, ahead of offshore installation.

The Calvados project is one of the first four offshore wind farms in France, and the second in Normandy. It will be located more than 10 km from the Bessin coast , on a total area of 50 km².

Atlantique Offshore Energy, along with its partners GE Grid Solution and SDI (DEME) were contracted for the supply of the substation in 2021. Atlantique Offshore Energy is in charge of the designing, manufacturing and commissioning of the topside and the Jacket structure, with GE providing the electrical equipment and SDI to transport and install.

The jacket stands at 30m high and weights 1.300 tons, the topside adds a further 15m and 2,200 tons. Offshore installation is expected next spring.

Calvados is being developed by EDF-led consortium of Enbridge, CPP Investments and Skyborn Renewables. The project consists of 64 wind turbines with monopile foundations which will deliver 450 MW of clean renewable energy when fully commissioned in 2024.
