Century Bladt Foundation facility takes shape

The Century Bladt Foundation (CBF) facility in Taiwan is shaping up. The joint venture between Century Wind Power and Bladt Industries will be used for the manufacturing of both jacket foundations, monopile foundations and pin piles.

Century Wind Power is a subsidiary of Century Iron and Steel Industrial Co. Ltd, a Taiwanese engineering and fabrication company with 30 years of experience, headquartered in Guanyin District of Taoyuan City. Bladt Industries is an offshore wind foundation manufacturer and claims to have manufactured more than 1,500 offshore wind foundations. The two companies inked an agreement in August last year with the aim of establishing a facility to build foundations for the Taiwanese offshore wind industry.

The 33,000 m2 workshop will soon be finished and ready for installation of cranes and equipment. Beside the workshop, the facility includes a 4,000 m2 administration building as well as canteens to host 400 employees. It also consists of 3,000 m2 warehousing space and nine hectares of outdoor storage are under construction. The welding school is up running and can train 60 welders at the time, in both manual and automatic welding techniques.

“It is impressive, how two companies with different backgrounds can join forces and within relatively short time establish a 33,000 m2 brand new workshop along with new quay facilities, administration buildings and storage facilities,” says Helle Schurmann Kragh, COO for Century Bladt Foundations.

The CBF facility will be used in the construction of jacket foundations for the ChangFang and Xidao offshore wind farms in Taiwan. Fabrication works are expected commence later this year.
