Copenhagen Offshore Partners opens Hanoi office

In April 2020, Copenhagen Offshore Partners opened a new office in Hanoi, Vietnam.  The office is located within the French Quarters, a central area close to key government ministries, embassies and the national grid operator.

Copenhagen Offshore Partners is actively developing offshore wind power projects in Vietnamese waters. The first two Vietnamese employees joining the new office are Khanh Duong and Giang Phung.

"I’m very excited to be working with one of the most experienced global offshore wind developers, and pioneering large-scale offshore wind projects in Vietnam. The market presents good opportunities for renewable energy developers”,
said Khanh Duong, Development and Commercial Manager.

Giang Phung, who joined as Finance Manager, stated: ”I’m proud to use my skills and experience to progress Vietnam’s transition into renewables”.

The chief source of energy in Vietnam is coal, and there are plans to increase the supply of coal. There is nonetheless a demand for renewables, especially given favourable coastal conditions. The Vietnamese government plans to install 800 MW of onshore and offshore wind capacity by 2020, followed 2 GW by 2025, and 6 GW by 2030.

Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) supports project development, construction management, and operational management services to offshore wind projects. The company is headquartered in Denmark and has offices in Taiwan, USA, Australia, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. COP is owned by the management and has 108 employees.
