CRIST Shipyard in Poland has finished the partially equipped cable laying vessel NB 314 Nexans Aurora for the Norwegian shipowner (Nexans Subsea Operations AS).

The vessel's partly equipped hull was built by CRIST shipyard. The final outfitting, commissioning and testing will be carried out by the Norwegian shipyard Ulstein Verft AS, before delivery to the ship's final recipient, Nexans Subsea Operations AS from Norway. Delivery is expected in 2021.

Nexans Aurora, equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, is a purpose design ST-297 CLV (Cable Laying Vessel) developed by Skipsteknisk AS from Ålesund, Norway. The vessel is 149.9 metres long, 31 metres wide with a deadweight of 17,000 tons. It can accommodate 90 crew in total.

The unit will be equipped with a dedicated split turntable with 10,000 tons capacity as well as a coiling tank of 450 tons. The vessel will be used to transport and install submarine high voltage cables and umbilicals with associated equipment from shallow to deep waters.

Earlier this week Red Rock announced it will be delivering a deck machinery package consisting of Knuckle Boom Cranes, Fixed Boom Cranes and Work Baskets for the vessel
