Crew Transfer vessel Aqua Helix, the largest aluminium monohull vessel ever designed and built by Damen, is set to arrive in the Netherlands today (20 December 2021). The 73m vessel has the capability to carry up to 122 industrial personnel over 200nm at speeds of up to 40 knots.

The Damen FCS 7011 design includes technologies such as stabilisers, active interceptors and marine access systems. which aims to ensure that the men and women on board are delivered safe and well rested.

According to Damen, the design of the vessel allows it to operate in a wider range of weather conditions than conventional fast crew transfer vessels and its capacity, speed and range means that multiple offshore installations can be served in a single round trip saving both time and operational costs. Oil and gas, and offshore wind companies have expressed and interest in the concept although contracts have not yet been announced.

Construction work started in June 2019 at the Damen yard in Turkey. The vessel was launched in January of this year.
