CSBC and DEME will jointly invest in the construction of a floating installation vessel, with a total investment of TWD 2.1 billion (EUR 63.1 million).

Current cabotage laws in Taiwan prohibit vessels built in mainland China from operating in Taiwanese waters, except in specific circumstances. This is an important step toward ensuring sufficient foundation installation vessel supply in Taiwan, easing dependence on vessels from Europe.

Back in November, CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE), the companies’ joint venture in Taiwan, signed contracts with the Zhong Neng Wind Power Corpoporation Preparatory Office for the
Zhong Neng offshore wind farm. The contracts include transportation and installation of foundations and a Preferred Bidder Agreement for transportation and installation of wind turbines.
