DHSS has been awarded a new contract by GE Renewable Energy for the vessel agency and port logistics services during the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase for the Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

DHSS is the service provider for GE Renewable Energy since the start of the construction phase of
Merkur in 2018, with regards to logistical services for the service operations vessels and crew transfer vessels involved.

GE Renewable Energy’s new build service operations vessel Windea Jules Verne is currently undergoing final tests at Ulstein Verft’s shipyard in Norway in preparation for sea trials. Following the delivery, the SX195 type SOV will depart for the
Merkur wind farm where it will support the maintenance of the 66 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines. Its marshalling port is Eemshaven, where GE Renewable Energy’s O&M Base is situated, is close to the support base of DHSS.

"We are honored to have received this contract award by GE Renewable Energy. It is a confirmation of our accurate insight into the needs of today’s customers and the high execution level of our services, including safety standards used within DHSS. This new contract will further strengthen our partnership with GE’s local team involved at Merkur,"
said Wim Schouwenaar, CEO of DHSS.

Merkur is a 396MW project which produced first power at the beginning of June 2019. The project is located about 35km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea. It features 66 GE Haliade 160-6MW turbines, the last of which was installed in September 2018. The array is expected to generate enough green energy to supply approximately 500,000 households per year. It is also the largest German project to finish construction. GE Renewable Energy is supporting turbine O&M under a 10-year service agreement.
