DHSS to provide Borssele 3&4 air support

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has awarded DHSS with a contract to manage helicopter services for crew change during the turbine installation & commissioning phases at the 731.5 MW Borssele 3&4 offshore wind project in the Dutch North Sea.

DHSS will be in charge of coordinating the transport of passengers, luggage, and cargo from its logistics hub at Den Helder Airport to the offshore wind project and back.

Construction of the Borssele 3&4 offshore wind farm, developed by the consortium Blauwwind, started in October 2019, when installation vessel Aeolus commenced installation of the monopile foundations. The vessel has also been deployed to install the turbines.

Borssele 3&4 is located 23 km from Vlissingen in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone, and will feature 77MW of MHI Vestas' V164-9.5 MW turbines on monopile foundations. Once fully commissioned, the project is expected produce enough power to supply around 825,000 Dutch households.
