DOC completes Trianel Borkum II work

TRACTEBEL DOC OFFSHORE GmbH (DOC) has completed construction supervision of the inner array cabling for the Trianel Borkum II offshore wind farm. Its work on the project took place over a period of around eight months, and consisted of over 650 offshore days.

DOC supported the project with up to 14 DOC offshore personnel. They oversaw the loading of the cables as well as the necessary preparatory work on the transformer station and on the foundation structures. DOC's personnel also supported the cable laying and installation and the connection work of the cables in the foundation structures as well as installation of concrete mattress for weighting the inner array cables.

Communications with the project office on land and quality assurance were also part of DOC's scope. The cable installation work was carried out using the Seaway Aimery, the Seaway Moxie, the Olympic Ares and the EDT Jane.

The 203MW Trianel Windpark Borkum II project will cover an area of 33km² and is located approximately 45km north of the island of Borkum, North Sea. It will feature 32 Senvion 6.2 M152 offshore wind turbines, each with an output of 6.33MW. Companies behind the project include EWE AG with a share of 37.5% and a joint venture of the power utility of the city of Zurich with 24.51%. The Public utilities cooperation, Trianel, together with 17 municipal utilities from Germany hold a share of 37.99%.

It is located in the direct vicinity of the 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum I project which consists of 40 turbines and has been in operation since summer 2015.
