Ailes Marines has launched a drilling testing campaign off northwestern France for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.

Boskalis' vessel
Bokalift 1 will support drilling tests on three wind turbine sites of the future offshore wind farm. The objective of this campaign is to validate that drilling can be used to the site to reduce noise impacts on fish species and marine mammals.

The
Saint-Brieuc wind farm is located 16.3 kilometres off Brittany. Once finished, the wind farm, with a total capacity of 496 MW, will produce 1,820 GWh annually, expected to meet the annual electricity consumption of 835,000 inhabitants. The installation works will last several months and will continue until 2022. The wind farm will be fully commissioned in 2023.

The site will feature 190 bored piles at 62 locations for three legged jackets foundations, as well as one substation consisting of a four-legged foundation. Offshore operations are scheduled to begin in 2021 with the installation of the bored piles using Van Oord's offshore installation vessel
Aeolus. It will be assisted by a second vessel in 2022 to install jackets foundations.
