EEW SPC breaks monopile record

EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC) announced has broken its record for its heaviest monopile manufactured.


Six years ago EEW SPC what was then the heaviest monopile of 1302.5 tonnes for the Veja Mate project at its Rostock site. This record has now been broken. On 17 July 2022, a 1,421 tonne monopile was manufactured for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. The pile has a diameter of 9 metres and a length of 89.36 metres.

More than half of the total of 50 monopiles have already been completed in steel construction. It is planned to complete their production by the end of November 2022. The installation of the monopiles is then planned for spring 2023 and the completion of the project for 2024.


Iberdrola's 476 MW Baltic Eagle project is being developed off the island of RĂ¼gen, in the German waters of the Baltic Sea. The project, which will span a 40 km2 area, is expected to be completed in 2024 and consists of 50 Vestas
V174-9.5MW wind turbines.Baltic Eagle will connect to the Lubmin substation through two high voltage cables. It is Iberdrol's second array to be built in the Baltic Sea. The first was Wikinger.
