Equitix acquires minority share of Hornsea One

Equitix has announced the acquisition of a minority stake in Hornsea One offshore wind farm operating in the North Sea.

Developed by Ørsted, Hornsea One is the world’s largest offshore wind farm to date. It is located in the North Sea off the east coast of England. The site consists of 174 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. SWT-7.0-154 turbines, spanning across an area of 407km², all of which have been installed. The site was fully commissioned at the end of 2019 and is anticipated to power over one million homes in the UK.

Equitix CIO Achal Bhuwania said: “We are proud to be making a significant investment into Hornsea One, the largest operational offshore wind farm in the world and a critical national infrastructure asset. With its material contribution to net zero, inflation linked government backed subsidies and best in class supply chain partners, this investment provides an excellent fit to our diversified portfolio of income focused core infrastructure assets. Huge thanks to all our team who have been involved in the transaction.”

In a separate announcement, The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (TRIG) revealed that it has exchanged contracts to acquire a 7.8% equity interest in the Hornsea One offshore wind farm in the UK from Global Infrastructure Partners. Equitix and TRIG have previously partnered at the Sheringham Shoal and Beatrice offshore wind projects. It also joins other co-shareholders Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and Ørsted in ownership of the Hornsea One project.
