Fichtner and SeaRenergy score BorWin contract

A consortium consisting of Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG and SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH & Cie. KG has been awarded a contract by TenneT to support the delivery of the offshore HVDC converter platform BorWin epsilon.

The scope includes checking and documenting project parameters to ensure their compliance with contractual requirements and the client’s technical specifications, checking the feasibility of the transport and installation concept with regard to international norms, standards and regulations, and checking and approving the “as-built” documentation.

Fichtner will lead the consortium and take responsibility for secondary technology and safety-related topics within the platform support team, including conceptual consultancy services. SeaRenergy will be responsible for all structural, steelwork and T&I matters such as feasibility supervision of the transport and installation concept.

BorWin epsilon forms part of TenneT's BorWin5 high-voltage direct current offshore grid connection. BorWin5 has a transmission capacity of 900 MW, and will connect the EnBW He Dreiht wind farm with the transmission grid via 230 kilometres of subsea and onshore cables. Commissioning of the project is planned for 2025.
