First steel cut for Cadeler newbuild

Cadeler A/S (Cadeler) held a first cutting of steel ceremony for its second X-class vessel, and the second of four new jack-up wind installation vessels that it has on order. The ceremony was held at the COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore shipyard in Qidong, China.

With its new two X-class newbuilds slated for delivery in 2024 and 2025, Cadeler aims to install the next generation of offshore wind turbines.

With a deck space of 5,600m2, a payload of over 17,600 tons and main crane capacity of more than 2,000 tons at 53 metres, the two new hybrid vessels are very will be able to transport and install seven complete 15 MW turbine sets per load or five sets of 20+ MW turbines.
