Iberdrola has achieved a significant milestone with the successful installation of the first wind turbine at the offshore wind farm in the bay of
Saint-Brieuc, marking the debut offshore wind turbine in the sea of Brittany. This event initiates the installation phase for the 62 wind turbines on the project, which will be assembled gradually.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, contracted by Iberdrola, completed the installation of the first wind turbine on 12th May using the vessel
Brave Tern. The turbine is located at position SB44 on the northern part of the site, representing a major achievement for Brittany as it embraces its first offshore wind turbine.

Emmanuel Rollin, Managing Director of Iberdrola France, expressed his satisfaction, stating: "The successful installation of the first offshore wind turbine at the Saint-Brieuc wind farm is a significant milestone for Brittany and the project. It signifies that we are entering the final phase, which will enable the production of renewable and carbon-free energy for the people of Brittany."

The project now progresses to the installation phase of the remaining 62 turbines. The Brave Tern vessel will transport components for four wind turbines per trip from Le Havre to the site, facilitating the gradual assembly process. The wind turbines for the Saint-Brieuc wind farm are manufactured in France at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy's facility in Le Havre, providing employment for around 900 individuals. The towers are equipped by Haizea Wind in the Brest polder, supporting approximately 40 on site jobs.

Key figures for the Baie de Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project:

- Area: 75 kmĀ²

- Turbines: 62 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD, 8 MW unit capacity

- Installed capacity: 496 MW

-1,820 GWh/year of production, the equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 830,000 residents (including heating)
