The first SWT-DD-130 Siemens Gamsea turbine has been installed at Windpark Fryslân in the Netherlands.

The 382.7 MW
Windpark Fryslân is being built in the IJsselmeer near Breezanddijk and will be the largest inland water wind farm worldwide. When full operations are achieved this year, the wind farm will generate around 1.5 terawatt hours (1,500,000 megawatt hours) of power annually, enough green electricity to power approximately 500,000 households.

Due to the width of the locks around the IJsselmeer, the wind turbine components are brought by various ships to the IJsselmeer, and assembled there. It is expected to take about 1 to 2 days to install one turbine.

Each wind turbine consists of three tower parts, the nacelle and the rotor. The tower parts and the nacelle come to the IJsselmeer via Amsterdam. The three rotor blades are first assembled in Oude Zeug. The complete rotor is attached to the nacelle in one g, using Van Oord's installation cranes.

Windpark Fryslân is being built in the Frisian part of the IJsselmeer, near Breezanddijk, by contractor consortium Zuiderzeewind, which consists of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Van Oord Offshore Wind.

Earlier this wind, it was announced that onshore cabling works for
Windpark Fryslân had been completed and the cables are ready for use. The connection to the Oudehaske high-voltage substation near Heerenveen features a 55 kilometre-long underground 110 kV cable running along the A7 motorway.

In addition to the 89 wind turbines at Breezanddijk, Windpark Fryslân consists of a newly constructed nature island at Kornwerderzand and a special transformer station on Breezanddijk, which will be open to the public from next summer.
