fos4X supports Veja Mate monitoring system

German wind farm operator Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH and fos4X GmbH are jointly executing a monitoring campaign project in the German North Sea. The aim of the project is a comprehensive condition monitoring campaign of the turbines as well as the early and data-driven optimisation of the maintenance strategy.

The fos4X "retroX" system, consists of a sensor platform and software which was installed on 10% of the wind turbines in the Veja Mate wind farm. The system enables structural condition monitoring of the rotor blades, recording of loads during turbine life time as well as the detection of yaw and pitch misalignment. D

A further aspect of the joint project carried out by fos4X is the monitoring, consolidation and orchestration of the entire turbine and subsystem data. The provision of the data to Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH as well as further analyses are realized on the fos4X IoT data platform.

"With fos4X we have found a competent partner for our rotor blade condition monitoring as well as for an extended data infrastructure and analyses," commented Stefan Klett, Managing Director, Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH

Located 95km off the island of Borkum in the German North Sea, the wind farm features 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines. Construction of the project took 14 months, and was completed in 2017. Veja Mate exports power to the German transmission grid via the BorWin2 converter station and was connected to the platform mid December 2016. The project is expected to produce enough electricity for 400,000 German homes every year. Over its lifetime, the park is expected to offset over 18 million tonnes of CO2 from being introduced into the atmosphere.
