Jan De NulThe vessel Vole au Venthas completed monopile installation at Ørsted's Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm.

Jan de Nul won the contract for installation of 36 monopiles and transition pieces for the project in 2016 and is proud of reaching this milestone.

The wind farm will also feature 20 jackets with suction bucket foundations currently being installed by GeoSea’s jack-up Innovation.

The foundations will support
V164-8.3 MW turbines manufactured in Denmark by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. The first turbine was installed earlier this month and with a rotor diameter of 164 meters, the model is the largest turbine in the German North Sea.

The 2500t substation topside for the wind farm has also begun load-out and is expected to be installed onto its 1700t jacket in the coming weeks.

The installation of the 56 turbines is expected to be completed by the end of 2018 with commissioning anticipated during the first half of 2019. The 450MW project will supply the equivalent of 460,000 German households with green electricity per year.
