Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is in prime position for the turbine installation contract for the 589 MW Changfang and Xidao projects.

In summer this year, Fred. Olsen is already due to position one of its jack-up fleet (speculated to be Brave Tern) in Taiwan for the installation of the 640 MW
Yunlin project. For Changfang and Xidao, Fred. Olsen will install 62 MHI Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines, with works scheduled to begin in 2022.

Fred. Olsen's project delivery is backed by a NOK 1.2 billion (EUR 105 million) loan guarantee, but is still subject to final approval from developers. Fred. Olsen Ocean CEO, Even Larsen, stated: "GIEK's guarantee is important to strengthen Fred. Olsen Windcarrier's position as supplier to offshore wind projects in Southeast Asia. This is the second major offshore wind project we are involved in in the region, and we have now opened an office in Taiwan. We are seeing increased demand for our services and hope to win more contracts in the region."

The Changfang and Xidao projects are owned and developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The projects reached financial close late last month, and are due to reach full commissioning in phases between 2023 and 2024.
