Preparations for the Fécamp offshore wind farm are progressing well according to Pierre Duthion, one of the project managers.

The 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind farm will be located between 13 and 22 kilometres off the coast of Fécamp in Normandy. It is being jointly developed by Eolien Maritime France (a joint venture between the French company EDF Energies Nouvelles and the Canadian company Enbridge) and wpd offshore.

This year 2021 is dedicated to the phase of preparation and fabrication of equipment with offshore construction due to start next year.

More than 50 of the 71 gravity foundations are already under construction by Bouygues Travaux Publics in Le Havre on the Quai de Bougainville. The foundations are due to be finished before summer 2022 for installation at by sea Saipem.

RTE is finalising onshore works for the transmission system and starting work at the export cable landfall site at port of Fécamp.

Siemens Gamesa is finalising the construction of its Le Havre plant where the blades and nacelles for the 71 SWT-7.0-154 turbines will be produced.

The construction of the maintenance base in Fécamp will be completed at the end of the year, ready for when the project enters operations in 2023.

Once fully commissioned the project is expected to produce the equivalent of the domestic electricity consumption of approximately 770,000 people, representing more than 60% of the inhabitants of the Seine-Maritime area.
