Fugro finishes Saint-Nazaire surveys

The geotechnical surveys that began over two months ago have now finished at the Saint-Nazaire site.

Carried out by Fugro, with two vessels, the self-raising barge, Excalibur and the geotechnical vessel, the Fugro Scout, the campaign was a success in several ways so says the company behind the wind farm.

It also stated that "the results obtained are very satisfactory for the future construction of the wind farm."

The favourable weather conditions, the work of each participant and the good coordination made it possible to carry out the operations more safely than expected, thus limiting the time delays and any injuries.

Daily exchanges with users of the water, including fishermen has allowed for a smooth operation with no issues between the groups. On board Fugro's vessel a person was available 24 hours a day to communicate with the neighbouring ships, the communication ranged from the clarification of position of the survey vessels, also to answer the curiosity of users wanting to better understand the current operations.

The Saint-Nazaire will have a capacity of 480MW, which will be provided by the 80 Haliade 150-6MW turbines.
