Global Wind Service has been commissioned to support MHI Vestas Offshore Wind (MHI Vestas) with the provision of offshore installation technicians for the turbines at the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm. The work will commence from June 2019.

Besides providing staff for the installation phase, Global Wind Service is also supporting MHI Vestas with pre-assembly activities through its setup with MHI on ESPF in Esbjerg.

Northland is the 100% owner of the
Deutsche Bucht offshore wind project, which is located in the North Sea, more than 100 kilometres from the mainland in the German Exclusive Economic. Consisting of 33 wind turbines of 8 MW each, the wind farm is due to be fully operational by the end of 2019. It is expected produce a total capacity of 269 MW, which is enough to provide more than 178,000 households with renewable energy per year. This translates to a CO2 emissions reduction of more than 328,000 tonnes per year, which is in line with German government targets to produce 40% less CO2 in 2020 than in the baseline year, 1990.

“We are grateful to MHI Vestas for trusting us with this interesting project and we look very much forward mobilizing our experienced personnel across to Deutsche Bucht. We have had a close and strong partnership with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind through many years and are very pleased to continue our journey  – this time installing 33 turbines at Deutsche Bucht”
Says Lars Petersen, CCO at GWS

The contract follows the two companies collaborating on the installation of 44 MHI Vestas V164 8.4MW turbines at the
Norther offshore wind farm. The €1.2bn Norther project is located 23km from the Belgian port of Zeebruges. It is owned by Elicio, Eneco & Diamond Generating Europe, and is currently the largest project off the Belgian coast. The 369.6 MW array is anticipated to generate enough energy to power over 300,000 homes annually.
In Further news, 3sun has announced that its offshore installation and completion teams are to be deployed on the Deutsch Bucht offshore wind farm. It is also supporting the installation and commissioning of the V164-8.0 MW turbines at the site.
