Good Energy Group PLC, a renewable electricity supplier and energy services provider, has renewed its agreement with Ørsted to source offshore wind power for its customers for a further three years.

The agreement between Ørsted and Good Energy covers 12% of the output of the
Westermost Rough wind farm, located in the North Sea, 8km off the Yorkshire coast, which is operated from Ørsted's base in Grimsby. This represents enough renewable electricity to power more than 36,200 average homes.

Under the agreement, Good Energy can also increase the offtake in Years 2 & 3 to 17% and 28% respectively.
Westermost Rough is owned by Ørsted, the Green Investment Group (GIG) and a consortium comprising GIG, Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (MEIF5) and the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

Juliet Davenport, Founder and CEO of Good Energy said: "Offshore wind is a huge British success story and we are proud to play a part in that. Building on our partnership with Ørsted allows us to continue to build on our ambition to transition to a 100% renewable energy system, empowering more customers to use clean power and ultimately tackle climate change."

Westermost Rough is an offshore wind farm approximately 10 kilometres North East of Withernsea, off the Holderness coast in the North Sea. The site was originally awarded to Total in 2003 during the initial Round 2 wind farm tendering process. After Total withdrew, the concession was returned to the Crown Estate and Ørsted (formerly Dong Energy) was awarded the lease to the site.

Offshore construction began early 2014 and the project generated its first power in September 2014 with full power output achieved in May 2015. The plant’s 35
Siemens Games Renewable Energy 6MW wind turbines give the project a total capacity of 210 MW and it provides energy to more than 150,000 UK households annually.
