Greenalia has taken another step in the development of its floating offshore wind farm,
Gofio, located in the Southeast of the Gran Canaria Island. The developers have secured an authorisation in terms of aeronautical easements by AESA (State Aviation Safety Agency) for the assembly of the four wind turbines of the wind farm.

The wind farm has a capacity of 50 MW, expected to provide enough energy to supply a population of more than 70,000 homes.

With this permit, Greenalia has the approval for
Gofio floating offshore wind farm in the port of Arinaga and for its subsequent towing to the final location, planned in front of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, within the territorial sea of the Canary Islands (Spain).

Greenalia is now aiming to secure the necessary environmental and administrative authorisations for
Gofio'sconstruction.

GREENALIA stated that this project could help to unlock the potential of offshore wind off the Spanish coast. It also expects that the full development, construction and operation of
Gofio will contribute to the Canary Region to meet 310 MW Marine Renewable Energy target established by the Canary Government in 2017 in its “Estrategia Energética de Canarias 2015-2025 (EECan25)”.
