Hengtong Submarine Power Cable secures Koh Tao cable contract

Hengtong Submarine Power Cable (Hengtong) has been awarded the cable supplying contract for the Koh Tao 33kV subsea cable project in Thailand by The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), a government enterprise under the Ministry of Interior.

It is poised to be one of the largest submarine cable projects in Thailand. The cable manufactured by Hengtong will be continuously in service transmitting to Koh Tao.

“It is another breakthrough in the market of South East Asia. We are committed to have a long term cooperation with local partners and clients”, said Vice President of Hengtong in APEC region, Mr. Joe Sheng.

Hengtong also announced that it has passed a new Type Test program for the 220kV Export Cables (EXC) with Aluminum Conductor, according to CIGRE TB490 and IEC62067.

Its recently type-tested solution consists of a 220kV 3x2000 Al XLPE submarine cable with factory joints, GIS terminations, transition joint, repair joint and outdoor terminations. The tests were performed in an accredited ISO17025 Laboratory and third-party witnessed by KEMA.
