EnBW has completed turbine installation works at the Hohe See offshore wind farm off the German coast. Commissioning works are underway, with 27 turbines already in operation and feeding electricity into the grid.

The 497 MW
Hohe See project is located 95km from the shore, and is to consist of 71 SWT-7.0-154 turbines. The first turbine for the project was installed on 5th April 2019. Each one has a rotor diameter of 154m, with 75m long blades and a hub height of 105m.

With all 71 wind turbines at the site complete, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier's jack-up installation vessels
Brave Tern and   Blue Tern are en route to the nearby Albatros project, to complete 16 more wind turbines. Albatros will have an overall capacity of 112 MW.

Both wind farms are owned by EnBW (50.1%) and Enbridge (49.9%), and are expected to supply around 710,000 households with electricity when commissioned later this year. Over 600 employees have been working at the offshore construction site, with around 50 ships involved in the construction work. The project is being coordinated by EnBW in Hamburg. Both wind farms are expected to be put into operation in 2019.

EnBW plans to invest more than five billion euros by 2025 in the further expansion of renewable energies in Germany and selected foreign markets, including North America and the Asia-Pacific region. The company aims to realise at least 3,500 MW of output in the wind power sector– both offshore and onshore – by 2025. It currently operates offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 336 MW in Germany.
