The two transformers for the
Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm's offshore converter station topside have been installed and tested. Now that they are in place, the ENGIE Fabricom and Iemants can proceed with the assembly of the last deck sections of the platform.

Both transformers weigh more than 300 tons and measure 9 metres long, 5.5 metres wide and 7 metres high. They were successfully placed in the housing via the open roof of the ENGIE Fabricom yard in Hoboken.

TenneT is responsible for the offshore and onshore grid connection for the
Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farms, including offshore platforms and cabling. Each connection is based on TenneT's standardised HVAC connection concept, with a 700 MW transmission capacity.

TenneT commissioned Royal Smit Transformers to deliver the two units. Royal Smit has already supplied four virtually identical transformers for the Hollandse Kust Zuid Alpha and Beta platforms.

The
Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm is expected to be operational by 2023 with an installed capacity of 759 MW, generating at least 3.3 TWh per year. The wind farm will be located 18.5 km off the Dutch coast, near the town of Egmond aan Zee. Is it being developed subsidy free by the CrossWind consortium, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco.
