Horns Rev goes Brave

The first turbine parts for the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm, located off the coast of Denmark in the North Sea, have been loaded onto the Fred. Olsen Windcarrier owned vessel, Brave Tern.

Loading began yesterday at the Port of Esbjerg where MHI Vestas is assembling all the turbine parts ready for installation.The blades are arriving by ship from Nakskov and the Isle of Wight, whereas the nacelles are travelling from Lindø Industrial Park near Munkebo on Funen in Denmark.

The project will feature 49 V164-8.0 MW turbines in total. When complete, expected 2020, the 406.7MW Horns Rev 3 project is expected to be capable of providing enough power to satisfy the annual electricity consumption of 425,000 Danish households.
