Huadian Heavy Industries inks lease agreement for jack-up to install 20 MW turbines

Huadian Heavy Industries has signed a charter agreement for an installation vessel being built by CIMC Raffles, which is to install turbines up to 20 MW.

According the stock exchange announcement, Huadian Heavy Industries and Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd. (Shanghai Boqiang) signed a 648 million yuan (€90m or £75m) contract to lease the vessel. The vessel, named Huadian Boqiang CIMC Julong 01, will sale under a three year charter

The announcement follows news in April last year that Huadian Heavy and Boqiang Heavy and CIMC Raffles had signed an agreement to build a series of 3060 design jack-up vessels. The 3060 jack-up features 120-metre-long legs making it suitable of working in water depths up to 65 metres.

The first, Huadian Boqiang CIMC Julong 01, is currently under construction at CIMC Raffles' shipyard in Yantai, with delivery scheduled for next year.
