Hutchinson Engineering completes first load-out for MHI Vestas

Hutchinson EngineeringHutchinson Engineering has carried out its first load-out for MHI Vestas at its new Garston Dock Facility on the River Mersey, UK.

Last Thursday the transportation vessel MV Ingeborg set sail to Denmark with seven sets of root & tip blade frames ordered for the MHI Vestas V164 Turbine Blade global deployment programme.

These 6m x 4m units weighing up to 25te were fabricated, finally assembled with components also manufactured at the nearby Widnes plant. The Project included on site shot blast and painting at Hutchinson’s new quayside facility.

Mr. Dean Drinkwater, Managing Director, commented: “This project is the first of many larger fabrications for our clients. This is now our fourth order from MHI Vestas and largest to date …..we can now offer our customers a full service from one of our four production facilities …our continued investment and collaboration with ABP & Armitt at Garston will bring much needed employment opportunities to the area and increased export potential from the Merseyside area.“
