Ingka Investments' 9 GW offshore wind deal gets the nod

OX2 announced an agreement Ingka Investments for the sale of 49 percent of three offshore wind projects in Sweden has received merger clearance and the transaction is expected to close within two weeks. The three projects have a potential capacity combined of 9,000 MW.

According to the agreement, OX2 will receive an initial payment of approximately 58 MEUR which corresponds to 630 MSEK. After permits are obtained and if both parties agree to continue the development, OX2 will receive a pre-agreed additional payment of up to EUR 100k corresponding to approximately 1.1 MSEK per MW for 49 percent of the planned total capacity.


The three wind power projects are Galatea-Galene array in Kattegat, Triton in the Baltic Sea south of Sweden and  Aurora between the islands Öland and Gotland. The projects are expected to have the potential to produce up to 38 TWh combined, corresponding to more than 25% of the electricity consumed in Sweden 2021.

Triton wind farm that will be situated about 30 kilometer south of Ystad, will comprise of up to 129 turbines with a maximal height of 370 meter. The wind farm's production is expected to be in the region of 7.5 TWh per year.

The Aurora wind farm is proposed to be situated about 20 kilometres from the island of Gotland and 30 kilometres from the Island of Öland. The wind farm will comprise up to 370 wind turbines, each with a maximum height of 370 metres. The electricity production from the planned wind farm will be about 24 TWh per year.


Galatea-Galene is divided into two areas. Galatea is located about 25 km outside Falkenberg and Galene about 25 km outside Varberg. The wind farm comprises up to 101 wind turbines, with a maximum height of 340 metres. The estimated electricity production from the wind farm amounts to approximately 6-7 TWh per year.
