James Fisher Renewables commits to further investment in Taiwan
James Fisher Renewables
(JF Renewables), a technical and operations solutions provider to the offshore
renewables industry, and a part of James Fisher and Sons, is further implementing
its localisation plan and growing its regional capabilities in the APAC
region through two partnerships with Dong Fang (DFO) and Ho Lung Power
Engineering (HLPE).
JF Renewables stated that through these partnerships it aims to provide
the technical knowledge transfer to selected local teams and provide O&M,
termination and testing and other selected services. The company claims
it will be able to provide a valuable local content offering to the Taiwanese
market, supporting overcoming shortage of skills challenges while enabling
customers to optimise their local content requirements.
DFO, one of the largest Taiwanese maritime engineering, procurement and
construction contractor, will provide local vessels, crew and project management
to JF Renewables for offshore wind projects in-country. This is expected
to allow JF Renewables to enhance the construction and Balance of Plant
services they can provide in Taiwan.
Polin Chen, CEO, DFO commented: “We are looking forward to the cooperation
and the setup of the local capacity, together with DFO and HLPE, shows
the strong commitment from JF Renewables to establish localization. The
combination of expertise of JF Renewables, DFO and HLPE will demonstrate
a successful localized competitive solution for long term development in
Taiwan.”
Through HLPE, a Taiwanese electrical company promoting the development
of offshore wind power and onshore power system, JF Renewables will have
access to local project teams of skilled personnel and project equipment,
to complete services for termination and testing, cable repair and fault
finding on Taiwanese offshore wind farms.
Chen, Cheng-Lung, General Manager, HLPE commented: “This cooperation
brings in foreign expertise to implement the localization of the wind power
industry. With JF Renewable's comprehensive solutions, DFO's marine management,
and HLPE’s power engineering experiences, the leading companies in different
fields working together, we can make Taiwan into an Asia-Pacific hub.”
Maida Zahirovic, APAC regional vice president, JF Renewables, commented:
“This is an exciting step forward for JF Renewables in the APAC region
as we continue to demonstrate our commitment to in-country development,
localisation and investment. Through our strategic partnerships with
DFO and HLPE we can support our customers with valuable solutions maximizing
their local content points in the round 3 auction, while training local
teams and providing knowledge transfer from our global renewables’ capabilities.
In addition, we’ll be recruiting additional local personnel to assist
with Balance of Plant services. The Taiwan branch will become the APAC
hub for JF Renewables and through this we will be able to bring our comprehensive
services further afield.”
