Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has submitted marine licence requests for its Eastern Green Link 2 subsea cable project.

The applications were submitted to the Scottish Ministers of the Scottish Government, and relate to the project’s HVDC cable and cable protection from Peterhead, Aberdeenshire to the Scotalnd-England water border. The applications were made under Part 4 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and Part 4 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009.

Eastern Green Link 2, previously known as Eastern HVDC Link, would include approximately 440 km of subsea HVDC cabling, fibre optic cabling, and cable protection. Public consultations ahead of the applications took place earlier this year.

The marine licence application can be viewed in full on the government’s website. Representations to the licensing team must be made by 22nd August 2022.
