Marsun wins UMO CTV contract

Marsun Shipyard in Thailand has announced that it has been awarded the contract to build of two Inertia M3 high-speed trimaran crew transfer vessels with U-Ming Marine Offshore Company Limited (UMO), a joint venture between U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation and World Marine Offshore (WMO).

The vessels are designed by WI-ND Naval Architects based on the Inertia trimaran hull form, and in collaboration with Sydney based One2three Naval Architects. The vessels will be built to Danish Flag requirements and classed as passenger vessels in Bureau Veritas in compliance with IMO high-speed code.

The aluminium hull features three independent and identical drivelines in three separate hulls. Optimised hull features aim to give the vessel high inertia and soft motions to provide a comfortable platform for extended periods offshore. With the aid of the hydraulic Softbow fender, the Inertia trimaran hulls are expected to support the transfer service personnel in up to 3m significant wave height. The hull design is also prepared for hybrid installation.

The accommodation features 24 passenger seats with 180-degree visibility, two single officer cabins and two double crew cabins along with a crew mess and TV lounge area. The entire superstructure is installed on mounts and together with the low vibrations from the waterjet propulsion, the noise levels in the superstructure will be well below 60 dBA at all speeds. The forward deck area features a cargo deck for containers and toolboxes as well as 50m3 climate-controlled storage facility under deck only made possible by the form of the trimaran hull shape.
