MHI Vestas announced that the V164-9.5 MW turbine has reached a new milestone and has received its final certification.

The awarding of the certification means the turbine model is now fully commercialised.

The first 23 machines of this make are expected to be installed in the North Sea on the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm next year.. Financial close for the wind farm is expected this year and it is scheduled to be fully operational by 2020.

The Northwester 2 will be installed in the Belgian part of the North Sea about 46km off the Belgian coast. The park will have a total capacity of 224MW which will be supplied by the 23 V164-9.5 MW wind turbines.
