A few days ago the UK Planning inspectorate accepted Vattenfall's Thanet Extension Development Consent Order application for examination. Vattenfall submitted the application on 26th June for a 340MW expansion to the Thanet offshore wind farm.

Yesterday Vattenfall reached another milestone, this time for the Norfolk Vanguard project. The application for the wind farm was received on the 26th of June and has now been accepted for examination by the Planning Inspectorate.

As with the DCO with regards to the Thanet Extension wind farm, the Planning Inspectorate has three months to prepare for the examination.

The 1.8GW Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind farm has a sister array known as Norfolk Boreas. When up and running in the mid-2020s, Norfolk Vanguard’s and Norfolk Boreas’s 3.6GW of combined generating capacity will produce enough fossil-free power every year to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand today of 2.6 million UK households, almost 10% of UK household demand.
