Pegasus Welfare Solutions cleans up at Moray East

Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd has awarded Pegasus Welfare Solutions Ltd (PWS) a full offshore substation welfare contract for the Moray East offshore wind farm, off the Scottish coast.

The contract will run throughout the project’s construction phase, with additional future options. It covers the provision and ongoing management of all welfare provisioning for the offshore substations to be deployed in the Moray Firth, Scotland.

PWS will use its patented Pegasus Multi Unit portable toilets and the Pegasus Portable Space welfare habitats. These safety- and productivity-enhancing provisions are always important but in the COVID-19 pandemic they are even more so, and the contract includes cleaning and sanitising platform equipment to ensure a “Covid-secure” workplace.

Dan Greeves, Managing Director at PWS, said: “The award of this contract builds on the importance of providing a simple but effective hygiene and welfare environment that has become a mainstay of keeping people safe offshore. Our innovative design, which is patented, provides a value adding, cost effective solution. The award by MOWEL recognises the benefit Pegasus products and systems bring to the offshore wind sector, stimulating skills, innovation and competition levers. As the new normal becomes common place offshore, Pegasus has proactively invested in a suite of solutions which are imperative in a COVID-19 world and are proven to increase safety and productivity whilst enabling diversity and reducing cost.”

Marcel Sunier, Project Director at Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd, said: “This contract led by Moray East the latest in a series of wins for UK business in the renewable sector, will facilitate an expansion by PWS – who plan to further invest in local premises and staff to meet operational needs. We are very pleased to see that the PWS modular concept will see local investment, enabling units to be fabricated and assembled in Scotland and will stimulate the local supply chain, both through new jobs to be created and subcontract opportunities within the supply chain. A win-win, as we ensure the provision of a safe workplace whilst continuing to construct this critical asset, to strengthen the provision of clean energy from offshore wind.”
