Peterson, an energy logistics provider, has received a contract to work on the Dogger Bank C and Sofia offshore wind farms. Under the three-year contract, Peterson will provide facilities management for shared access to the onshore converter stations.

Peterson will support with summer and winter grounds maintenance, drainage, and site security for shared access areas on a 20-acre converter station construction site in Teesside.

Sandra Hawkins, General Manager for England at Peterson, commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to apply our expertise as part of the development of these world-leading wind farms which will deliver significant, long-term benefit to the local area in the years ahead.”

The wind farms are expected to contribute to the UK’s decarbonisation goals. Sofia is fully owned by RWE and, with an expected capacity of 1.4 GW, is among the world’s largest single offshore wind project. Meanwhile, Dogger Bank C, part of the larger Dogger Bank Wind Farm project, is owned by a consortium: SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%), and Vårgrønn (20%). This phase alone has a capacity of just over 1.2 GW.

The contract for Peterson is not the only joint contracts from the two wind farms, which are cooperating due to their proximity. Both are based in the central North Sea, over 190 km from England’s north-east coast.

Robin Banning, Supply Chain Manager for Dogger Bank Wind Farm, said: “On behalf of Dogger Bank C and Sofia we welcome Peterson’s expertise to our team, bringing local knowledge and capability to the shared site of both project’s convertor stations as they continue to take shape.

“This contract will provide around 20 new UK jobs in our supply chain and will present new opportunities for employment in the north-east of England where a number of our onshore assets will be located, along with our offshore construction hub at Able Seaton.”
