Polish firms to support HKN topside fabrication

Ultra NDT S.C. and Jaworski Energy Services have a signed contract with joint venture ENGIE Solutions Belgium and Iemants for the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm topside fabrication.

Ultra NDT S.C. has been selected as the third party responsible for non-destructive testing with
Jaworski Energy Services providing project management and technical supervision over contracted scope.

The scope of work for the joint venture of the Hollandse Kust Noord project consists of the engineering, procurement, construction, offshore installation, connection and testing of the offshore transformer station.

This offshore transformer station consists of a 45-meter-high jacket of 1,930 T and 870 T piles to be placed in 24-meter water depth and a topside structure consisting of 4 decks weighing approx. 4,100 T. The topside structure is 47 meters long, 35 meters wide and 25 meters high (excluding antenna tower and top deck crane).

Back in August the CrossWind consortium, a joint venture between Shell in the Netherlands and Eneco, was named winner of the tender for the subsidy-free Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm off the Dutch coast. Both companies have already taken their final investment decisions on the project. With an installed capacity of 759 MW, the project is expected to generate at least 3.3 TWh per year. This is enough renewable power to supply more than 1 million Dutch households with green electricity.

The wind farm will be located 18.5 kilometres off the coast of The Netherlands near the town of Egmond aan Zee and is planned to go into operation in 2023.
