Cables General Interconnectors

The 700 MW Skagerrak- 4 (SK4) will not be fully operational on 6 October 2020, between 6 am to 5 pm. The 11 hours long power shortage has been caused by a converter station failure. Only 946 MW of the 1,632 MW capacity will be available on the date of repair.

The Danish part of the land cable of SK4 had three faults last year. To fix these faults, the cable remained out of service from 25 May 2020 to 13 July 2020.

Sk4 is one of four connections between the electricity systems of Norway and Denmark. The HVDC cable started operations in 2015.
