Siemens Gamesa's first offshore wind nacelle assembly facility outside of Europe has officially started production. Its first wind turbine nacelle has been assembled in Taichung, Taiwan.

The parcel of land being developed in Taiwan measures over 30,000 square meters which will support Ørsted’s 900 MW
Greater Changhua 1 and 2a projects, where SG 8.0-167 DD turbines will be used.

Located 35-60 km from the coastline of Changhua County, Greater Changhua 1&2a are the first large-scale and far-shore offshore wind farms in Taiwan, and are scheduled to be finalised by 2022 to provide clean energy to one million households. With a combined capacity of 900 MW, the two projects will feature a total of 111
SG 8.0-167 DD  turbines.
