Sif enters negotiations in Japan

Sif Holding n.v. (Sif) has entered into exclusive negotiations for the delivery of foundations to an offshore wind project in Japan.

The scope of work includes the fabrication of 33 monopiles and 33 transition pieces (totalling 25 KTon steel). Sif stated that the current state of negotiations has led to a pre-order of the steel for the project. Manufacture of the foundation components and disclosure of project details is subject to the issue of a Notice To Proceed by the client.

The announcement comes a few months after Sif opened a new office in Tokyo and teamed up with local partner Sato Tekko to target the Japanese offshore wind market. The office officially opened on 5th September 2019. Sif stated that the move was a consequence of its closely following market developments in Japan since 2015.
