Sif fabricates 2000th foundation

Offshore wind foundation fabrication firm Sif Group has fabricated its 2000th monopile foundation. The company produced its first monopile for the offshore wind farm Horns Rev and is now 2,000 offshore foundations further down the line.

The 2000th monopile was made for the Borssele 1&2 offshore wind farm and was ordered by Danish headquartered offshore wind giant Ørsted. Sif's scope covers the production of 47 monopiles, corresponding to approximately 40 thousand tons, for the offshore wind farm. Sif stated it is currently in the final phase of this project and is planning to complete the works early April.

Sif noted that despite the concerns and measures due to the corona crisis, its craftsmen and women are still working hard to fulfil its order book in a responsible and safe way.

Earlier this month, Sif signed a final contract to deliver 33 monopiles and 22 transition pieces (TPs) to the 140 MW Akita-Noshiro offshore wind farm in Japan. The company will manufacture the foundations and TPs as well as providing storage at its MV2 facility and delivery at its deep sea quay side this year.
