By: James Bernthal-Hooker 22/07/2022 Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao
The Ferrol Port Authority in the town of San Cibrao, Spain has approved the construction of an assembly plant for offshore wind power. Nervio Naval Offshore’s proposed facility in the port’s Caneliñas dock, will occupy 70,000 square metres and is expected to introduce 300 new jobs.

The facility represents an estimated investment of €25 million.

There are numerous projects in the early stages of development, in close proximity to the port. 4C Offshore estimates that the combined capacity of these projects comes to 3,180 MW. The new facility, then, is well located to serve a growing pipeline.

Part of this pipeline is a new 1 GW project, Galwind. This is part of a 2.6 GW set of wind farms for which a developer, who has chosen not to make their identity public,  has submitted Environmental Impact Assessmnet (EIA) scopes to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
