Specialist Marine Consultants scores inspection contract with Ørsted

Ørsted has awarded SMC (Specialist Marine Consultants) two contracts to provide structural inspection above water services for foundation assets across its portfolio of offshore wind farms in Germany and the United Kingdom.

Ørsted has four operational offshore wind farms in Germany and 11 in the United Kingdom, with two under construction and further developments planned.

George Moore, Business Development Manager at SMC, commented: “Ørsted and SMC first collaborated in 2009 and we are extremely pleased to have continued building on our early successes together for over a decade now. Our above water inspection and maintenance division really is thriving, and this contract gives us another opportunity to demonstrate why we are considered a gold standard within this market”.

Ørsted is set to more than double its offshore wind capacity in the coming five years, using ever larger turbines. The company has over 6.8 GW in operation worldwide which annually supplies green electricity for the equivalent of 6.6 million households. The company is currently constructing 3 GW of offshore wind and aims to have installed a total of 15 GW by 2025 in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the UK and the US.
