SPT Offshore wins Chinese foundation contract

Guangzhou Salvage Bureau has contracted SPT Offshore to install foundations components for China Three Gorges New Energy's Yangxi Shaba Phase I offshore wind farm.

SPT's scope of work includes the installation of three suction pile jackets for wind turbines. The water depth at the site ranges between 26m and 30m. SPT will perform suction installation services, including all related engineering preparations, such as suction installation procedures, suction pile penetration analysis and grouting consultation. It will use three of its SAPS-007 suction pump units, which it claims have 100% redundancy. The execution of installation services is scheduled from July to August 2020.

The project is located about 26km to the South of Shaba, in Guangdong province, People’s Republic of China. It is to consist of 55 turbines, each with a capacity of 5.5 MW. With a combined capacity of 300 MW, the project is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
